“The United States is facing what’s projected to become the largest labor shortage in its history.”…”A protracted decline in birth rates is coinciding with a record wave of retirements, data shows.”

Why recruiters can’t find workers and new grads can’t find jobs – The Washington Post

As college graduates fret over jobs, what’s actually coming is a record shortage of workers

Opinion | The Population Bust Is Coming Sooner Than Anyone Is Prepared For – The New York Times – “The American fertility rate has fallen below 1.6 children per woman, a record low. Replacement rate, the level that merely holds a population steady before immigration, is about 2.1. If the current trend in shrinking births continues, it’s likely that the U.S. population will largely stop growing in the 2030s, and begin to decline in the 2050s. ” The author of that notes, as I have, that this is a global issue, not just the U.S. There will not be enough skilled immigrants willing to move to other countries.

Politicians will open the immigration spigot to as high as possible. (Note the differences between legal and illegal immigration.)

Already, the US has the highest percent of foreign born residents as it has had in its entire history, since it’s founding (15.8% in 2025). This will likely reach 20% within less than 15 years. Having such a large and rapidly growing immigrant population will result in fundamental changes to the U.S.
