This is from a 2025 Goldman Sachs report on retirement. The report, unfortunately, is not available for access by individuals. This chart was shared by others on social media.
It shows that 40+% of those earning $300,000 or more per year say they are living “paycheck to paycheck” which is a sign of lifestyle inflation. They are not poor or living in poverty.
“Living paycheck to paycheck” stories are a staple of doomer media, and typically come out about twice per year. The % who say they are living paycheck to paycheck is typically in the 60-70% range and has been mostly the same for 2-3 decades. Every year its presented as a “new” finding, emphasizing doom and gloom.
