Blue Zones are places were supposedly more people live to be 100+. Except it turned out they are places where there are inaccurate birth records and pension fraud. They tend to be in places that are economically depressed with less education – which is contrary to other studies on longevity. Blue Zones persist because the concept is now a profit center selling life style books to rich people in developed nations.

In the U.S., less than 1 in 3000 people will live to be 100 or older. In the Blue Zones, the figure rises to about 2 in 3000. In other words, a large increase in a tiny number – subject to bad data.
