Apple made self repair, or even repair by technicians not authorized by Apple, difficult or impossible. Apple announced a reversal of that stance and will begin selling spare parts and permitting many DIY repairs.
Previously, attempting to fix your Apple device by yourself could leave locked-down software unusable.
