Comcast has kind of done something similar with their in-home data modems – they can be used as Wi-Fi access points by anyone who pays a fee to Comcast for remote Wi-Fi while traveling. But this tech is typical, very small radius wi-fi services.
Starlink Mobile’s concept – using spectrum that Starlink acquired from Echostar – could put a vertical antenna on each dish and reasonably service cellphones over a larger area, especially for roof mounted Starlink antennas. One half to 1 mile radius would be readily possible and in some cases, even longer range.
And the market is much bigger than mobile phone services – in the not distant future cars and Internet of Things and robots will be constantly connected. That’s the huge market that Starlink is going after.
