Education researchers say the biggest driver behind shrinking schools is that Americans are having fewer children. Birth rates in the United States have been on a steady decline since 2007, data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention shows, and the effects of the drop are now becoming visible in the public school system.
Actually, its been in decline since 1959. Only now are they noticing! It’s K-12 now and the leading edge of the TFR collapse is already impacting colleges. One of the universities that two of my kids went to have lost 24% of their enrollment since they graduated.
