X, famous for misinformation spreading, has had a number of people – some of them journalists – proclaiming that we must cut Social Security benefits because the maximum benefit per couple is about $124k/year. Excessive!
That’s $62,000 per beneficiary per year.
But facts:
- only about 6% of Social Security beneficiaries get $3,300/month or more. That’s about $40k/year.
- only 1-2% get $50k or more per year
- The average recipient gets $24,000 per year as of 2026.
The suggestions that people are receiving huge payouts from Social Security are factually incorrect – and reducing the upper payment by more will have almost impact on the Trust Fund.
But never let facts get in the way of a major propaganda operation on X!
