I have taught college and university courses and unfortunately, have caught students who engaged in significant plagiarism. In one instance, the student argued that she did not see why this was a problem, as she had turned in the same paper in a different class at another college and it was not a problem there !!!! 🙂 Oh my!

These allegations are serious: ‘This is Definitely Plagiarism’: Harvard University President Claudine Gay Copied Entire Paragraphs From Others’ Academic Work and Claimed Them as Her Own

Of course, in 2023, it seems to be argued that copying others works, without attribution, and passing them off as your own, is completely reasonable. Apparently, everyone does it, goes an argument, which indirectly trashes all academia.

Update: 5 academics have found their work plagiarized by Harvard President. Some are upset about this occurring – and that she is getting away with it. Her Ph.D. thesis and 5 of her 11 published papers contained plagiarized content.

Update: As of January 2, 2024, the Harvard President has resigned. This occurred after more instances of plagiarized content were found.

Update: January 14, 2024. Two young reporters for tabloid Insider.com targeted Bill Ackman’s wife (not Bill Ackman, but his wife) alleging that she had plagiarized. Ackman’s attorney’s responsded that the co-owner of Insider.com, via parent company Axel Springer, has a Ph.D. and in his thesis, he had been previously caught plagiarizing.
