It has become fashionable to say math is useless so let’s stop teaching it since failing math may mean not graduating from high school. Oregon has abolished requirements for graduation – students take classes but are no longer required to demonstrate proficiency.

Math is useless to those who do not know math.

Abolishing algebra in public schools seems like a really, really, really bad idea. Better idea is to improve the teaching of mathematics in school.
