Excellent summary of tendon pain and therapies:

I have greater trochanteric pain syndrome – which encompasses several hip issues including “hip bursitis” and gluteal tendinopathy. Mine may have been caused by statin-induced tendon degeneration, which resulted in sudden onset pain in the right gluteal region while doing a routine walk. Was diagnosed by a PT 4 days later. Now at 9 months, I am still battling the pain and working on physical rehab. Rehab for a tendon injury takes place very slowly, over a very long period of time, gradually getting the tendon to function again.

My rehab has been complicated in that it may have been caused by a side effect of a medication – which was discontinued, A few months later, I had sepsis – a systemic bacterial infection and was hospitalized for 7 days on IV antibiotics. Afterward, I developed significant muscle pains in my hips and legs making walking difficult. I went from walking 3-5 miles most days to no longer able to walk at all. It seems I have post sepsis syndrome – over 40% of those who have had sepsis suffering difficulty walking or standing, for many months afterwards, and may also suffer venous insufficiency in the lower legs due to sepsis related damage to the vascular system. This is horrible.
