The baby boom, born 1946 to 1964, had 76 million population.
An estimated 35-40 million will still be alive in 2035. State another way, half of the Baby Boom will have died by 2035 – or within the next 9 years.
A lot of nonsense spewed by bad journalism and stupid social media posts does not realize this. In 2031, the last members of the Baby Boom turn 67, the “full benefits”‘ age for Social Security. The very next year, the system will be unable to make full benefit payments. The tail end will be screwed.
They funded prior generations SS benefits under the historic “pay as you go” system, and since the 1980s, also funded a “Trust Fund” (sort of paying twice) to fund their own future benefits – which they may not receive.

Older members of the Baby Boom will have collected full benefits for years. But those at the tail end are likely to see benefit cuts – and because the generation is shrinking and dying off, will not have political power either. There is a real possibility that younger generations will seize the assets of those who saved for retirement. This is a real possibility as demonstrated by the socialist mayors of NYC, LA and Seattle. Socialists do not create the means of production, they seize the means of production.
See that peak around 1959 – it’s been downhill ever since. The US population only grows now due to inbound immigration.
