They’ve long run on the model of a nationwide letter monopoly – but no one mails letters anymore.

They have pension obligations to workers.

Increasingly, parcel shipments are handled via others – UPS, FedEx, etc.

They propose raising prices and cutting delivery days. Currently, mail is delivered 6 days per week but that could be cut.
