That seems to be the gist of this inane news story: Older people don’t want to sell their homes, and that could cause problems – MarketWatch

This story makes little sense – it seems to assume that those age 60+ are supposed to sell their homes and move into retirement apartments and assisted living facilities to make more homes available on the market. What? That presumes moving from X to Y will free up space – but is their really more space somewhere else? The assumption is that everyone 60+ is in big homes and must downsize. Don’t know about everyone else, but we downsized once our kids were out of the house. We don’t need to downsize again.
