Women only make 24% of the STEM workforce – with representation remaining an issue
For comparison, nursing is 89% female, K-12 education is 75% female and veterinary medicine is 70% female. Similarly, the majority of young workers in journalism are female. These ratios, though, are never discussed publicly. Schools have programs to encourage girls to enter STEM but no such programs to encourage boys to enter nursing, education or a large number of female dominated fields.
