In August 2020, in the midst of the Covid terror campaign, someone I know said she didn’t understand why the neighbors were not having their food delivered – this worked great for her.
That was the day I saw through this bullshit – wealthy elite were outsourcing their perceived risk to mostly low paid delivery workers. How was that ethical? 50% of workers still had to do in person work so the elite could hide in their homes.
Until then, I was using a “delivery to the curb” option to pick up groceries at the local store. But that day, I returned to shopping in person, in the store. How was it fair for me to outsource my risk to others?
Safeway had an idiotic arrow system so you were to go down aisles in one direction – if you forgot something, you were supposed to continue straight ahead, go down the next aisle all the way back to the start of your current aisle – while staying six feet away from other shoppers. Which meant you were now in greater contact with more people than if you’d just walked the 20 feet back on the aisle.
The idiocy and inconvenience were stunning, I have not been back to that Safeway store since August of 2020.
