1 million disappeared from 2019 to 2012, during the pandemic. More are expected to leave the public school system over coming years, coupled with the low fertility rates resulting in shrinking young cohort populations.
Now is probably not a good time to be earning an education degree – versus says in the 1960s and 1970s when schools were expanding like crazy and students were often housed in temporary (but which became permanent) “portable classrooms” that were towed into the school grounds.
