Seems like a good idea. Once upon a time, this is how most training went – it was based on experience and learning on the job. The growth of college education for everyone began in the 1960s in light of the huge influx of a new young worker cohort from the WW2 baby boom (then, families had twice as many kids as today).

Today, the demographics have reversed – and college is often absurdly priced for what it delivers. The market is turning to a new solution – competency-based education.
