Travel as we know it could be on the brink of extinction by 2040, warns report | The Independent

Within 15 years “experts” warn, many destinations will be too hot or experience too many “extreme weather events”.

  • Tourist destination islands may be submerged under the seas.
  • Carbon passports will be used to control who gets to travel.
  • Travel restrictions will require you support the local economy

“By 2040, governments will be required to implement regulations on travel businesses to ensure that the majority of money spent by tourists in a destination stays in the local economy,”

An individual’s carbon footprint will be tracked in real time. Oregon and Washington states have proposed tracking vehicle travel/mileage and “pay by the mile” vehicle taxes. All of your eventual carbon outputs and inputs will be tracked, apparently.

Reminder – nearly 100% of expert predictions about the future, even short term futures a year out, are wrong, and often massively wrong.
