In a representative democracy, the schools work for the parents and parents are intended to be in charge – that is by design:

The contentious national showdown over how much say parents should have in their children’s schooling is looming over Oregon’s upcoming school board elections and the work of the Legislature.

Just as we saw with censorship on social media, many wish to have anonymous government technocrats control speech. In our (alleged) form of government of, by and for the people, the people are the ones who get to decide what goes on in schools. That is by design. Users of social media also get to decide whether they read something online, or not, or they can choose to respond to speech they do not like, with more speech.

Look how misinformation by CNN has now morphed into a fact:

Oregon hasn’t seen the controversy come to a head like it has in other states, including Florida, where a principal recently lost her job after sixth grade students at her private school were shown a picture of Michelangelo’s David without prior notification to parents.
