A new green tech startup wants us to rethink what we do with our banana peels, pepper tops and other kitchen scraps, ….

Why it matters: Scraps thrown away in the regular trash often wind up in landfills, where they generate methane, a greenhouse gas.

So … for a $33 monthly fee, they provide you an electrically powered machine that shreds your food scraps, which you then periodically ship back to them, where it is used to feed chickens.

This is insane when the easily available substitute for most people is to compost at their residence, at no cost.

For anyone with a house, or even an apartment/condo with a small patio area, you could choose to compost your food waste at your home – and eliminate the machine and transport of food scraps elsewhere – which consumes many resources. But they insist their model “pencils out”. Sounds like another Expert Model projection.

The acknowledge its based-on virtue signaling feel good marketing: “subscribers feel like they’re doing something to fight climate change ” … even though they are not?

Composting is not hard. You just need to get started. We compost all food scraps and yard waste.
