Law Will Install Kill Switches In All New Cars
for all new vehicles sold beginning in 2027.
- Requires that vehicles automatically determine if a driver is impaired and refuse to start the vehicle.
- Is required to constantly monitor the “performance of a driver”. The algorithm for how this works will be unknown to the driver – somewhat like how the 737 MAX control system was kept secret from pilots.
- If the vehicle determines the driver is impaired, will it notify police? Will the data be collected onboard and offloaded when you have the vehicle sent for maintenance? Will the data be automatically shared with police and your insurance company?
- How easy can it be hacked for nefarious purposes? (Very likely it can be hacked).
