I grew up in Silicon Valley. All of my immediate next-door neighbors were a sequence of electrical or aerospace engineers that were eventually laid off. All of them.

I’ve been laid off too.

I’ve watched many colleagues get laid off, especially after the dot com era 20+ years ago and then again during the Great Recession (2009-2010).

It’s odd that tech has gone this long without a major shake up.
