Pride and gratitude topped the myriad emotions that washed over Gonzaga University’s Commencement ceremonies Saturday and Sunday. The jubilation was palpable inside Spokane Veterans Memorial Coliseum.

I am a graduate of UC, Irvine (1980, B.S. computer science), Gonzaga University (2001, M.B.A.), and Regis University (2012, M.S. in software engineering).

Feeling really happy for this year’s graduates and being able to celebrate again. Gonzaga also held a class reunion and graduation celebration for the class of 2020 whose ceremonies were canceled. Nicely done!

This year GU honored 98-year-old Carla Peperzak with an honorary degree; in WW II, she, a Jew, joined the Dutch Resistance and helped many Jews hide or escape the Nazi terror. She had grown up a block from Anne Frank. Well-deserved recognition by GU! Wow, simply wow.
