Oregon has the highest combined tax rate of all states. Oregon also has one of the most aggressive estate taxes (starts at $1M and quickly climbs to 16% – which is in addition to any Federal estate tax).
Oregon has no general sales tax (it does have a sales tax on cars) – but as of 2026 the Senate Finance and Revenue committee is discussing adding a sales tax. We live in Oregon – but are now looking at moving to a different state.
