Bloated staffing too:
In many cases, school districts added staff to help with social, emotional and behavioral issues immediately post-pandemic. Most have stayed at or close to those staffing levels even as enrollment has continued to decline
Pretty much management incompetence and theft of taxpayer money:
The district has lost more than 1,800 students in the past four years and is bracing for further declines. The district added several hundred employees during that same time period, with particular growth in support staff, like paraeducators and office assistants, and in educators placed in “special assignment” roles, including those who coach and mentor other teachers.
