Heart failure deaths have accelerated in U.S. since COVID pandemic | The Seattle Times
Due to public health – such as Oregon restricting access to life threatening issues only in 2020 – this led to downstream health effects.
While ten states discouraged using health care in 2020, only one – Oregon – mandated people to not use health care unless it was an emergency. During this time, the number of people presenting at ERs with heart attack and stroke systems was cut in half – but the actual incidence of those conditions did not magically go away.

On the day in March 2020 I decided I need to see a doctor for a foot injury was when Oregon’s Gov. Kate Brown (D) (lowest ranked governor in all 50 states) closed health care access and marked a turning point in my health (having been a jogger, weightlifter, and physically active until then) – to someone who sat for 7 months. Months later I learned I had broken my foot and tore a tendon – but this went untreated, leading to years of health problems.
