- The drop from 1990 to 2000 was due to the Clinton Administration’s “National Performance Review” program, which led to a reduction of 377,000 jobs.
- The 2000-2010 growth era was attributed to post 9/11 expansion of national security initiatives (created DHS and TSA).
- From 2010 through 2020, Obama and Trump held government size relatively constant.
- Then the Biden Administration (2021) onward, dramatically increased the size of the Federal government.
- In 2025, the Trump administration has eliminated an estimated 200,000 to 300,000 jobs – far less than the Clinton administration. Yet this reduction eliminates only about 1/3d of the Federal jobs increase created by the Biden administration.
This historical context is critical to understanding today’s minor cutbacks in the Federal government. This also illustrates how worthless the news media has become – I have not seen even one news report providing this historical context.
