Currently, those who are home buyers skew much older. But interestingly, in overall terms of home ownership, there has not been a huge change in age over the decades.

About 1.5-3% of homes may sell in a year – and right now, the data says those who are buying skew much older.
Markets go up and down. I just checked my own neighborhood and home values have fallen 10-12% from their recent peak. It is possible that the market clearing price in many regions may fall back to earth.
