If you go to the government’s fire information web page, you will see they no longer show data before 1983 which, magically, was the low point of the past 100 years. Thus, we only see a rise in acres burned. They claim that the reliability of the data before 1983 cannot be guaranteed, so they deleted it. Which also eliminated all of the history of acreage burned prior to the U.S. aggressively fighting wildland fires.
