This is wild, but if only someone had warned them: Schools threaten to close nationwide as enrollment slows | kgw.com
From 2019 to 2023, enrollment declined by 20% or more at nearly 1 in 12 public schools — roughly 5,100, according to a report published last year by the Thomas B. Fordham Institute, a conservative-leaning education think tank.
I grew up the era of schools adding “portable classrooms” and split days with split morning/afternoon sessions to accommodate more kids in classes having 30-33 students each. No idea how learned a thing – hah hah.
Now enrollments over much of the country are plunging – yet for years districts have been building new campuses and hiring more administrators!
