Stock price fell -46% today. From $200+ a share at its peak to $1/share today: Beyond Meat Debt Deal Rattles Investors (65 cents/share on October 17, 2025)
Costs more than meat, doesn’t taste that fantastic, and is typically marketed in the meat section of grocery’s – to people who don’t buy meat and hence, don’t see it on the shelves.
About 4% of US adults claim to be vegetarian (a couple of studies found half of them actually do eat meat or fish from time to time), and 1% are vegan. This is down from 6% and 2%, 18 years ago, per Gallop surveys. No one is much interested in these fake meat products which were briefly a novelty item.
Update: A few days later, the share price shot up to $2-$3/share on announcement of some funding. Still unclear that there’s a big market here.
