There is much talk about Covid-19 vaccine recommendations recently, in part, because the CDC has modified its recommendations for Covid vaccinations and now agrees with most of the rest of the world.

I had 3 Covid-19 vaccination shots and was scheduled for a 4th back in 2022, but I had non-viral hepatitis and was too sick and weak to get the 4th shot. I was told to wait at least six months before doing another; however, shortly after dealing with hepatitis, I had Covid-19.

According to the CDC, if you have had multiple Covid shots and you have had Covid-19, you have robust hybrid immunity and there is marginal benefit to getting additional shots.

The CDC acknowledges that individuals who:

  • Received multiple vaccine doses, and
  • Subsequently had one or more COVID infections
…develop robust hybrid immunity. This combination tends to offer strong and durable protection against severe disease, even as antibody levels fluctuate.
  • 💉 Marginal Benefit of Additional Shots
For most healthy individuals—especially those under 65 with prior vaccination and infection—the CDC now notes that additional boosters may offer only modest incremental protection. The focus has shifted toward:
  • Targeted vaccination for high-risk groups (e.g., elderly, immunocompromised)
  • Variant-specific updates when needed
  • Monitoring immunity durability, rather than blanket annual campaigns

As of 2024+, only about 10% of children up through age 17 were vaccinated in 2024+, 13% of adults age 18-49, about 20% of adults age 50-64, and just under 50% of adults age 65+ received an additional vaccination shot in the 2024/2025 season.

Few people are still getting vaccinated for Covid-19 making most discussion about revised CDC guidelines moot and mostly about stating political perspectives.
