I’ve mentioned this before and more are starting to notice: ‘It’s a penalty’: Oregon EV and hybrid owners will be hardest hit under transportation bill tax hikes, environmentalists say – oregonlive.com

We have begun discussing moving out of state – this is just one small factor in our reasons, but it is a factor.

The reason they are targeting EVs for “per mile” fees (in addition to higher registration fees), is because the cohort is too small to contest the higher fees. Politicians don’t need to worry about losing votes as there are not yet enough EV owners in the state to throw many elections. However, once the “per mile fee” is established – then it becomes easier in the future for politicians to gradually start charging fees to more groups of drivers. You car gets more than 30 or 35 mpg? It will then be time to charge a per mile fee in the future.

And about Greta Thunberg – she’s off doing political protests in the mid-east now. Climate is so last year – even she has moved on.
