Here are the Gallop Poll results, over the years: American Pride Slips to New Low
It appears Democrats take pride in America primarily when a Democrat holds the Office of the President. And to a lesser extent, similarly with Independents although it seems Independents are steadily losing interest, not connected to particular political parties in power.
Some of this comes from the DailyDoomer news media that primarily reports bad news, exaggerates scary stories, and cannot find anything good to say about America. On my Travel Blog I have extensively documented 2 years of “I moved abroad” stories – almost all of which are identical: “America is terrible, so this privileged individual/couple/family moved to Country X where everything is wonderful”. No surprise that the negativity takes its toll on readers and viewers. The media can rarely find anything nice to say.
It’s doom and gloom 24×7 – most of which is nonsense, not true, or greatly exaggerated. The effect of that on mental health is obvious.
