Some of this comes from the DailyDoomer news that primarily reports bad news, exaggerates scary stories, and cannot find anything good to say. On my Travel Blog I have documented 2 years of “I moved abroad” stories – most of which are identical: “America is terrible, so this privileged individual/couple/family moved to Country X where everything is wonderful”. No surprise that the negativity takes its toll on readers and viewers. The media can rarely find anything nice to say.
It’s doom and gloom 24×7 – most of which is nonsense, not true, or greatly exaggerated. The effect of that on mental health is obvious.
