Venues/organizations switching to random dynamic pricing, adjusting pricing based on what they perceive as current real time demand: Welcome to the zoo. That’ll be $47 today — ask again tomorrow.
Almost one in five venues have now switched to dynamic pricing models. Not everyone likes this as it may not be possible to know the price until, say, an entire family arrives at the venue and discovers today it will cost $300 – for which they had not budgeted.
Some online ticket ordering does not provide pricing ranges until a guest enters all their data and then it provides a price quote. Some may provide no information until you purchase the ticket – making it difficult for families and groups to plan ahead.
Many visitors view dynamic pricing – and non-transparent prices – as a rip off, risking significant backlash to those using dynamic pricing.
