Achieving “net zero” in 25 years (or whatever) seems farfetched. Coal, oil and natural gas make up the bulk of energy in use today and have grown sharply since 1950. Coal has flat topped – with its growth replaced by growth in natural gas, and the oil growth rate has slowed but does not yet appear to have peaked.
