In 2023, 34% of Americans said they would consider buying an EV (and 66% would not) – Reuters/Ipsos poll. A Pew poll from mid-2023, found 38% would consider an EV.

Tesla vehicles would be a subset of the 34-38% figure.

There is no comparable survey for 2022. For 2024, a AAA survey found 31% were interested in possibly buying an EV, and a Consumer Reports survey found 38% – a similar range to 2023.

Thus, in 2025, the “two-thirds of Americans now say they wouldn’t drive a Tesla” is essentially the same percent as in prior years. There has been no meaningful change.
