Today, a lot of people think college is a scam, pointing to high costs, up to half of graduates ending up in jobs not requiring a college degree, and many realizing they pursued “flaky” subjects, earning degrees in subjects and with skills not needed in the job markets, after taking on tens of thousands of dollars of debt.

Now, there are subjects and fields of study for which a degree is beneficial and/or necessary. But the majority high school students today are told they should go to college – whether it makes any sort of sense or not – and end up with degrees that fail to deliver a positive ROI.

Are their other options besides college? Certainly, but the pathways for those options are not always clear to students.
