Fed by hysterical media morons and grandstanding politicians: New Jersey drone sightings explained: Kirby dispels fears
More here: The Ordinary Explanations Behind the Reported Drone Sightings – The New York Times
Over 1,600 scheduled flights overfly the NE corridor between 5 pm and midnight – every day. Then combine that with general aviation, air ambulance and law enforcement, plus a smattering of commercial and hobbyist RC drones.
So far, everything that has been observed is normal operations. There is not an invasion of mysterious drones.
There are, however, millions of naive Americans living in light polluted east coast cities who have never looked at the night sky before. Driven by media sensationalism, they looked skyward and every light they saw as now a “drone”.
Basically, we have the complication of being a nation of idiots: Everything We Know About Unidentified Drones Flying Over New Jersey, New York And Other States
By coincidence, the Department of Homeland Security’s authorization to track and deal with drones expires on December 20, 2024…
Surely just by pure coincidence, we have the NFL suddenly lobbying Congress for laws to allow local law enforcement to take down drones within 3 miles of stadiums. We have the NY Governor and other politicians lobbying for new laws that enable local police to take down drones, and Immigration and Customs Enforcement, just by pure coincidence this week, releasing numbers on how many “drone” sightings they have on the southern border – and the need for new laws to let them do something about it.
This is reminiscent of 2018 when the FAA proposed Remote ID (and real time tracking of all consumer RC model planes, nationwide). The media was inundated with planted stories about “drone sightings”, all to further the FAA’s goal of heavy-handed regulation. Once the new rules were adopted, the media reports largely vanished.
Once again, the Great Drone Hoax of 2024 has the fingerprints of an orchestrated public relations campaign to push through new laws and regulations – based ultimately on the mass delusions of people labeling every light in the sky as a “mystery drone”.
We can thank our media morons for playing a long and lacking any common sense whatsoever.
