This photo is making the rounds on social media – and being used to say that non-fossil fueled energy is easily destroyed by weather, therefore we should use solar PV:

The reality is that tornadoes and severe weather do not care the infrastructure.

In May of 2024, a tornado hit – and shut down permanently – an oil refinery: https://ktul.com/news/local/city-of-barnsdalls-major-oil-refinery-is-shutting-down-a-substantial-blow-tornado-impact-residents-income-continue-operations-damage-financial-feasible-residents-job-loss…

Another refinery was “leveled” in 2015 and destroyed by a tornado: https://independent.co.uk/news/world/americas/massive-tornado-wreaks-havoc-on-texas-oil-refinery-a6737571.html… Tornadoes destroy lots of infrastructure.

Does this imply that we must not have any oil refineries either? Tornadoes tend to level a lot of infrastructure regardless of its purpose!
