I sampled the list and found nearly all had international experience, most commonly by having been born abroad, then studied in the U.S., or sometimes vice versa.
Over the past 2 years I noticed that to become an highly accomplished individual in tech or science, it is pretty much a requirement that you have international experience, either by having been born abroad, or having done an entire degree abroad in your specialty area.
Every time I check backgrounds, I see the same pattern – well over 90%.
If you intend to aim high, you must get global experience. You do not have a choice.
