The Bureau of Labor Statistics estimates that nearly 30 million foreign-born workers — both authorized and unauthorized — were employed in 2023 compared to 131.1 million native-born workers, meaning foreign born workers accounted for about 23% of the workforce.
Nearly 1 in 4 U.S. workers today are foreign born. If you are not foreign born, you will almost certainly be working side-by-side with workers having international experience or managing an international worker team – in the U.S. or abroad. It is critical that U.S. workers develop international experience.
