This study: Research — Denver Basic Income Project
gave participants a universal basic income of up to $1000/month. At 10 months, 45% were not longer homeless, therefore universal basic income works to end homelessness.
Or so they claim.
EXCEPT: there were 3 groups of participants, including one that received just $50 payments. Homelessness decreased about the same across all groups suggesting that time, not money, was the factor leading to a decrease in homelessness.

Oregon plans to put a $750/month universal basic income on the ballot in November 2024. This measure would sharply increase taxes on businesses and hand the money to everyone in the state.
