A failed software update from Crowdstrike took down airlines, retailers, gasoline/petrol stations, governments, 9-1-1 and other emergency services, banking/finance/ATM networks, hospitals and more over the entire world.
This is why you do pilot testing and phased rollouts.
Crowdstrike says they have accepted responsibility (does that include paying billions and billions in damages?)
Incredibly, the CEO is still employed there:
Statement on Falcon Content Update for Windows Hosts – crowdstrike.com
The CEO of CrowdStrike, George Kurtz, was CTO of McAfee when they crashed systems globally back then: Defective McAfee update causes worldwide meltdown of XP PCs | ZDNET – he’s got a reputation for doing this.
Everyone involved in the path from the CEO on down needs to be fired by Monday.
The degree of incompetence is off scale.
Prediction: The company will quietly change its name to something else. CrowdStrike, as a brand, is over.
