This change seems to turn the economy into a top-down, centrally planned labor supply, run by elite who identify what skill sets they think we must import in larger quantities to optimize the economy. The experts want taxpayers to subsidize some industries in the U.S., while simultaneously hiking tariffs on Chinese made goods. All of this becomes expensive to taxpayers and consumers as the experts pick the winners (corporations mostly) and losers (consumers).

The “expert” above implies that since our labor costs for making semiconductors are too high, we need to flood the market with cheaper skilled labor in such fields.
