In the United States alone, the publishing industry uses about 32 million trees annually to make books. On top of that, producing books emits over 40 million metric tons of C02 each year.

They are not saying we should ban printed books – but acknowledge the industry is consuming huge amounts of trees, which suck up CO2.

Obviously, it is time to ban printed books – mandate only electronic books. But they are only working towards using more recycled inputs into book printing.
