Where do insurers get their cash from?

Novo Nordisk said 80% of U.S. patients with insurance coverage who take its highly popular weight loss treatment Wegovy are paying less than $25 a month for the drug.

The remarks suggest that many insured Americans don’t have to shoulder the full cost of a monthly package of Wegovy, which has a list price of around $1,350.

These drugs real costs are around $1,000 per month and patients are on them for many months, even a year or more.

Good thing insurance is totally free, right?

The excess cost comes out of higher insurance premiums, which means higher premiums for ACA customers, higher employee-share payments from your pay check, or from taxpayers (via Medicare and Medicaid).

These payments are not free, as the pharma companies want you to believe, and the media fails to point that out. The story teller has a BA in media studies, music and a minor in journalism.
