While some states, like California, have many EVs and many charging stations, there are also many states with little charging infrastructure – so little as to make cross country travel in an EV challenging/difficult: Electric vehicle charging stations and the states with the best ones (usatoday.com)
There may be a few years yet before EV charging infrastructure is sufficiently available in all the country, not just some coastal states. This is especially true for the mountain west, parts of the midwest, and Alaska (93 public charging stations in the entire state – a state roughly the size of the US west of the Mississippi River).
