WorldCoin is a crypto currency linked to a eye scan. To get people to have their eye’s scanned, they’ve been going through Africa and paying poor people a few dollars to participate in exchange for receiving WorldCoin and participating in a global ID scheme. The idea is that everyone would have a unique identifier that could be used for multiple purposes, yet they claim it is “privacy preserving”.
