GM previously announced it would discontinue the Bolt EV. Today they reversed course and announced there will be a 2nd generation Bolt EV based on the Ultium battery platform.

The current Bolt EV had a maximum DCFC around 50 kw, but rapidly dropped below that as the battery recharged. A typical “full” charge could take 1.5 to 2 hours on the current vehicle. An Ultium-based Bolt EV fixes that.

I like the Bolt design – but not the slower charging rate of the current vehicles. The Bolt is basically an EV Honda Fit and I drive a 2015 Honda Fit now. Hence, I’d be happy to have a 2nd gen Bolt EV.
